sehsüchte.08 is approaching with great strides. The film blocks have
been completely organized and an interesting and varied program can
be expected. The festival trailer is already finished. We have recruited
Prof. Johanna Wanka, Brandenburg Minister of Science, Research
and Culture, as the patron of sehsüchte.08. The festival sponsors have
also been named. Awards with a total value of 53,700 euros will be

Musical “delicacies” have been announced for sehsüchte.08. A broad range of
musical directions will provide the public a varied feast for the ears at the
festival. For the first time in its history, the festival will also present its own
sehsüchte.08 song live. What is more, there will be an extensive, entertaining,

This year’s sehsüchte program has been finalized. Altogether 137 films from 34
countries have been selected from nearly 1000 entries in the official competition.
Along with the traditionally strong presence of German and Eastern European

Just a few more days and Europe’s biggest student film festival sehsüchte will
begin for the thirty-seventh time. The anticipation in the team is palpable. Now,
just the final adjustments have to be made. Many new things are awaiting every
guest. Along with the Focus on Africa, the screenplay award also holds much
potential in store. Anyone unfortunately unable to attend sehsüchte.08 has the

sehsüchte.08 has begun! At the ceremonial festival opening at Potsdam’s Thalia
Movie Theater, Film and Television Academy President Dieter Wiedemann,
Brandenburg’s Minister President Matthias Platzeck and Potsdam’s Mayor
Jann Jakobs welcomed all the guests to the 37th sehsüchte International Student
Film Festival. The screening of the opening films was followed by a spectacular
opening gala at the Film and Television Academy Konrad Wolf with a superb

have responded positively to the film blocks. All the invited filmmakers have
especially been getting their money’s worth. And the supporting program has
also been well received by our guests. Anyone who still hasn’t visited

thirty-four nations from five continents, fifteen award winners, purses totaling
just under 60,000 euros, excellent visitor numbers despite sunshine and a great
